    Continuing & Inclusive Learning Courses

    This programme is designed to meet the needs of individual students who have additional support and learning needs. This course enables students to develop skills in personal, social and vocational areas.

    Our aim is to ensure that we:

    • Provide individual support in response to student needs
    • Work in partnership with students to identify opportunities to achieve personal goals
    • Design college courses to allow students to progress and move onto further learning opportunitie

    All courses provide opportunities for students to attain recognised certification where appropriate. Other courses can be undertaken or a specific course can be designed to meet particular requirements.

    SVQ in Food Preparation & Cooking Level 1

    This course is specifically for students who have additional support and learning needs. It provides a range of basic employability enhancing skills. This course is mainly practical with a workplace in Langside College’s refectory (the COURTYARD).

    Skillstarts for Schools

    Offers students a range of practical experiences and educational opportunities plus the experience of an integrated adult college environment in which to explore vocational interests.

    • Half day per week

    Content

    • Hospitality, Land based Industries (Horticulture), Introduction to Beauty, Introduction to ICT, Introduction to Sport Studies, Introduction to Auto Valeting, First Aid, ASDAN Awards, Towards My Future

  • Achievers Programme

    Achievers Programme

    Students are supported to look to the future and re-engage with education and learning. Liaising with schools and referral agencies is a core element of the course.

    Target Group

    • School Students who require an alternative to the current school curriculum

    Application

    • Referral by school/Careers Service/ Supporting Agency

    Attendance

    • Up to 4 days per week from September to June

    Content

    • Selection from various courses and vocational areas, may include work experience

    Enables the development of independence, self-awareness and self-esteem. Stimulates educational and vocational interest and provides vocational experience and opportunities.

    • Full-time 1 or 2 years

    Provides opportunities to experience college learning. Students will often require time to build up their confidence and improve their communication skills.
