Student Info > Student Funding > General Advice

Before you apply for your chosen course find out about the funding arrangements for that course and for your particular circumstances.

The type of funding available will depend upon the qualifications you will be working towards, whether you will be studying on a full-time or part-time basis and your own personal circumstances.  The type and level of assistance are subject to regular change and information provided is correct at the time of publishing.

Even if you think you may not receive additional funding assistance, HNC and HND students must still apply to SAAS have their fees paid.

In the first instance contact the Student Funding Section who will advise you of all relevant funding opportunities and answer any general enquiries about student funding.  It is vitally important that you find out about your funding as early as possible. They can also be contacted on 0141 272 3674.

If you have access to the Internet you may, in addition, wish to check the following sites:

Tuition Fee Information

Information is correct at time of publication.

Full-time Students on Non Advanced Courses (NQ, Access, Highers etc)
Most full-time students will not have to pay fees. You will be given advice during enrolment about whether or not you need to pay.

Full-time Students on Advanced Courses (HNC/D)
Most students following HNC/D courses may be eligible to have their fees paid by the Student Awards Agency in Scotland. You must have been living in the UK and Islands for the last 3 years and have been in Scotland from 1 August to be eligible for funding from SAAS (Student Awards Agency for Scotland). The same rules apply for EU students. However Non-Scottish UK students should apply to their local education authority for funding.

If SAAS are paying your full time HNC/HND course fees they will pay us direct. Your application must be made online using www.saas.gov.uk. Applications for funding should be made as soon as you receive your conditional or unconditional offer of a place on a course. A SAAS award letter should be sent to you in advance of your course start date and this letter must be presented to the finance office prior to or on the first day of matriculation. If you are not in receipt of this letter on the first day of matriculation you must provide details of your bank account and complete a standing order agreement until your SAAS letter can be provided.

Please note that if you withdraw from your course prior to 1st December the college will not receive tuition fees for you from SAAS, and you will be responsible for payment of a proportion of your fees.

If you are self financing your course there are two main ways to pay:

  • Pay cash at the Finance Office
  • Pay by debit/credit card over the telephone or in person at the Finance Office

You can elect to make a one-off payment or, if the total amount exceeds £550 you have the option to set up an agreement plan to pay by a maximum of 10 instalments made direct from your bank account.

If paying directly to the finance office, it is located on level 1 at the top of the stairs turn left and go through the double doors and it's on the right.

Usual opening hours are:

Monday - Thursday

09:00 - 17:00

Friday

09:00 - 15:45

Note: International students must pay in full prior to the start date of their course and should contact to International Student Services on 0141 272 3680.
