English Language

Langside College has many years experience of providing high quality English Language training. In recognition of this, the English Language Unit has been awarded British Council Accreditation.

The ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) Section provides general and specialised English for all speakers of other languages. This includes workshops focusing on reading, writing, speaking, listening and grammar. Additionally, we offer examination preparation classes for all major accredited ESOL exams (SQA ESOL Units and Courses and Cambridge & IELTS exams). Class duration ranges from 2 weeks to 36 weeks per year. With classes from Pre-Basic to Advanced: we can offer an English Language programme to suit you.

Our on-line learning centre offers the latest English Language software on fast PCs to all English Language students to develop the four key skills; reading, writing, listening and speaking, at your own pace. Please note that as a provider of Trinity College London accredited teacher training awards, ESOL classes may be occasionally taught by both qualified ESOL staff and trainee teachers. On any ESOL course this would amount to no more than 12 hours teaching on a one – year ESOL course. All trainee teachers are closely monitored and supported prior to teaching and observed throughout their teaching practice by highly qualified ESOL staff. It is our experience that ESOL students respond well to trainee teachers and value their input on ESOL courses.
