Social Care Staff

David Cooke BA, DipSW, PQ Cert in Child Protection Studies, TQFE, A1 SVQ Assessor

David is a registered Social Worker with the SSSC and has been lecturing at Langside College since September 2000, teaching on the HNC Social Care, HNC Early Years and Education, NC Social Care, Access Social Care, Diploma in Welfare Studies, Certificate in Welfare Studies and on Professional Development Awards. David has also been an SSSC Approvals Panel Member since 2008 and maintains an interest in the areas of Child and Adult Protection and Human Development.

Susan Howie BSc Health Studies, TQFE, RGN, RoSPA

Susan commenced lecturing at Langside College in 2001 and has taught on HNC and NC Social Care courses, Access to Nursing and PDA Distance Learning SEN. She has also taught Access HNC and NC Child Care Students. Susan's main interests are anti discriminatory practice in teaching materials, and the promotion of health utilising complementary therapies.

David Macallan CQSW, Dip SW, CETE, Practice Teacher Award

David is the Course Coordinator for Social Care courses, and lectures on the HNC, NC and Access Social Care courses. David is a qualified social worker, who worked in England and Scotland in Child Protection. David has been at Langside College since 1995. His main interests lie in the fields of Social Work Theory, Child Protection and Family Therapy. David was also a Member of the Childrens Panel in Glasgow for 10 years.

Linda Malone MA (Hons), CQSW, TQFE, A1 SVQ Assessor, Cert Counselling Skills

Linda has been a lecturer in Social Care at Langside College since 1999. She teaches on a variety of courses including the HNC Social Care, Access to Social Work, NC Social Care. Her interests lie in advocacy and disability awareness and counselling approaches

Marion McCusker RN, RM, HVdip, BSc Hons, TQFE, RoSPA, A1 SVQ Assessor

Marion has been working at Langside College for over ten years and lectures on the NC Social Care course, the HNC Social Care course, and the HNC Support for Learning course. She is involved in lecturing in all areas of the care courses with an interest in human development, health and safety, health aspects of care and also plays a role in supporting students at NC level.

Lesley NewtonBSc OT, PG Cert Ed, RoSPA

Lesley has lectured at Langside since 1991.She teaches primarily on the HNC Occupational Therapy Support course and the PDA certificate in Care Support Practice. Other teaching interests include the HNC Social Care, NC Social Care.
Lesley has been involved in the development and delivery of a variety of short courses designed meet employer and employee needs within various health and social care areas. Her main interests lie in the continually changing context of care provision.

Sheila WatsonDip COT, CETE, MOVES Moving and Handling Trainer

Sheila has been lecturing at Langside College since 1994. She teaches a variety of Health and Social Care courses.
Sheila's main areas of interest are in relation to Integrated Care, Equality of Care, Continued Professional Development, and mental health issues.
