CLIC Membership

All current students and members of staff at Langside College are automatically entitled to access the resources and services provided by the College Learning Information Centre. This includes staff and students at the community campuses (e.g. Glenwood, Rutherglen & Carnwadric) as well as students attending flexible learning courses, evening classes, part-time or short courses.

Access for external users (i.e. anyone who is not a student or member of staff at Langside College) is at the discretion of the LITEhouse Manager. Everyone who applies for CLIC membership will be considered but, due to limited resources and heavy demand, membership will only be granted to those who can show an educational purpose for accessing the CLIC. External users can access the resources and services of the CLIC but will NOT be allowed to borrow any resources (except at the discretion of the LITEhouse Manager) and will NOT be able to book computers in advance.

Registration

Registration is a simple process: fill in the registration form (in BLOCK CAPITALS) with your details including name, student card number, date of birth, address, email address and course information. Then sign the declaration to agree to our conditions of use (see below) and hand your completed registration form in at the Issue Desk. Your student matriculation card or staff ID card will also act as your library card once it has been registered by us and should be shown whenever you wish to book a computer or borrow an item from the CLIC.

Borrowing Rights

Students can borrow up to a maximum of 6 resources at a time (staff may borrow up to 12). In addition to this staff and students can borrow up to a maximum of 2 items from the recreational A/V resource section as well as 6 items from the periodicals section and 6 items from the children's books section. The normal loan period for books is 4 weeks unless it has a "Restricted Loan" label on it, in which case it can be borrowed for 1 week only. All other resources, magazines and A/V items, are issued for 1 week.

You can renew items on loan to you up to 3 times unless another borrower has already requested them. Renewals can be done in person at the Issue Desk, over the phone or online via the online catalogue. Please bear in mind that all fines must be paid before you can borrow any additional items or renew items already on loan to you. On their return requested items will be kept at the Issue Desk for 2 weeks (for 4 week loan items) and 1 week (for 1 week loan items). If not collected in this period they will be returned to the shelves.
